I am Michael Pasparis. I have lived in England for many years. I visit Cyprus, the country of my birth, frequently.

Some years ago my world changed. A close family member became involved with drugs.

Overnight I moved from blissful ignorance to horrified awareness. I soon found that few families are untouched by the problem. Drug culture is all-pervasive.

My special concern is the Anglo-Cypriot and Greek community of UK and Cyprus for that is the community I know best. Is there a problem? All I know is that everyone I speak to knows someone whose life is tainted by drugs. There IS a problem. So do I shrug and accept that the world has changed? Or do I fight?

I fight !

I quickly discovered that a lone fighter is soon exhausted. I recruited my daughter, Maria, who is a Psychotherapist and Mr Chris Constantine, a Consultant Psychotherapist and lecturer who specialises in drug issues. I became WE and together we constructed a battle plan. We say NO to drugs.

Our plan

  • to stand up for strong family, morality, the importance of self-worth and self-respect, cultural pride, and spiritual awareness
  • to increase young people's knowledge of the full impact of drugs on the body
  • to describe the impact of drugs on real lives
  • to offer support to anyone involved in the fight whether a parent, a user, or a fellow-campaigner

Alpha Omega Anti Drugs International Society invites all who have reason to care about this problem to join us in the fight. 

  • We seek to alert communities
  • We seek the help and support of Governments and Private Organisations
  • We seek to take our message to schools and on to the streets
  • We believe that the home, the community, and the cultural tradition are the building blocks required for a society that is strong enough to say NO to drugs
